BUILT FOR THE ADRIATIC
MORE THAN 70 YEARS AT SEA
Sveti Ante was built in Betina on the island of Murter in 1951. At 11.55 metres long and 3.50 metres wide, she is a traditional wooden boat known as a leut.
Leuts were originally powered by lateen sails and used as working boats, carrying olives, grapes, sheep and wood between the islands and the mainland.
Sveti Ante later began a very different chapter of her life, spending many years as a working boat for sponge and coral diving in the Adriatic Sea.
Even her name has a connection to the sea. St. Anthony of Padua, after whom Sveti Ante was named, is traditionally regarded as a patron saint of sailors and fishermen — a fitting name for a boat that has spent more than seven decades on the Adriatic.
